Rick began his mountaineering career in 1968 and currently has 35+ years of experience climbing on rock, snow, and ice. From high school he served in US Navy and over a 25 year career in many capacities retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Among Rick's many jobs, "The Chief" as his friends affectionately call him, was a certified Survival Trainer and Facilitator. He also spent many seasons in Antarctica where duties included Para-Rescue, Helo Search & Rescue Tech, and Survival Trainer. Rick also has 30 years of experience in Behavioral/Attitude Modification Education, Mentoring, and Drug Abuse Counseling. Rick also has 20 years of Ultra Sports and Distance Training and Competition experience.
Rick has a vast resume of climbs in the Sierra on rock, snow, and ice plus has completed many big wall routes in Yosemite, Moab/Arches, Zion, and Wadi Rum, Jordan . Rick also has many first ascents in the Sierra and has participated in ASCA rebolting projects. Rick?s experience has helped him become is intimately familiar with the Sierra Nevada. He currently lives in North Bishop along the base of White Mountain with his lovely Wife Michele.
